　　建筑是有关结构设计的艺术和科学，为了实用或象征性目的，用结构来组织和利用空间。由于建筑来自于人们的需求和愿望，所以能够清晰地传递文化价值。因为其在很大程度上决定了人类生存环境，所以建筑在所有视觉艺术中是最能直接影响人类生活的。建筑是一种三维立体形式，主要利用空间、质量、纹理、线条、光照以及色彩等要素。一栋楼必须要实现各要素和谐配置才能叫做建筑。

　　Architecture is the art and science of designing structures that organize and enclose space for practical and symbolic purposes. Because architecture grows out of human needs and aspirations, it clearly communicates cultural values. Of all the visual arts, architecture affects our lives most directly for it determines the human environment to a large extent. Architecture is a three-dimensional form. It utilizes mainly space, mass, texture, line, light, and color. To be architecture, a building must achieve a working harmony with a variety of elements.

　　1.“来自于人们的需求和愿望”翻译为“grows out of human needs and aspirations”，grow out of 的用法很地道、出彩。

　　2.“传递文化价值”翻译为“communicate cultural values”，注意communicate的用法。

　　3.“利用”翻译为“utilize”，比“make use of”更招阅卷老师喜欢。

　　4.“一栋楼必须要实现各要素和谐配置才能叫做建筑。”采用了意译。如果直译走不通，那就意译，关键是要把原文信息准确传达出来。
