2017年12月英语四级翻译技巧

　　如果你要得到翻译部分的及格分，首先得了解一个问题。

　　英语四级翻译部分如何评分?

　　很多同学以为翻译部分是采点给分，即错误多少就扣相应分数。其实翻译更多如同作文，评卷时给出的是印象分。印象即对考生的译文有个总体的评判。比如按照0-15分打分，阅卷人先把试卷定位在一个分数区间(<2，3-5，6-8，9-11，12-14，>14)，再具体给出评判。

　　所以建议大家：

　　1. 把中文调整成英文的结构，抓住主干，理清枝叶。

　　比如：反应在艺术和文学中的乡村生活理想是中国文明的重要特征(2014年6月四级题目)。

　　对于这句话的翻译首先应该抓住主干。

　　(反应在艺术和文学中的)乡村生活理想是中国文明的重要特征。

　　那么：The ideal rural lifestyle (reflected in the art and literature) is a great characteristic in Chinese civilization.

　　尝试下：巧妇难为无米之炊。

　　巧妇(难)为(无米之)炊

　　直译：Even a good housewife cannot make meal without rice.

　　地道的翻译：Even a good housewife cannot make bricks without straw.

　　注：有点和写作一样需要提醒，千万不要范太低级的语法错误，否则翻译得再好也会降到低分区。

　　2. 翻译不一定要苛求字词，先把整个句子的结构搭好，至少让人觉得你译文可以基本表达原文的内容。

　　比如：为了促进教育公平，中国已经投入360亿元，用于改善农村地区教育设施和加强中西部地区农村义务教育(2014年6月四级题目)。

　　该句子先学会搭结构：

　　In order to ______, China has invested 36 billion yuan to _______ and __________.

　　如果你不会写义务教育，甚至教育设施也不了解，但是至少你的结构搭出来了，那你就勉为其难地瞎编或者不写你并不会的部分。

　　以下是一个学生的译文：

　　In order to improve the equality of education, China invested 36 billion yuan to improve the country education equipment and improve the education in center and west areas.

　　我们发现尽管这不是一个很赞的译文，但是基本翻译出了原文的大致意思，根据印象一般判为中等。

　　参考译文：

　　In order to promote the equality in education, China has invested 36 billion yuan to improve the education facilities in rural areas and enhance the rural compulsory education in the central and western regions.

　　3. 学会变通翻译。

　　尽管我们不主张把指南针翻译成GPS或者a machine always pointing to the south，但是大家还是要学会变通。

　　比如：它既包括为皇室成员享乐而建造的大型花园，也包括学者、商人和卸任的政府官员为摆脱嘈杂的外部世界而建造的私家花园(2013年12月六级题目)。

　　首先参考前两部，打好结构，抓住主干：

　　中文可以分解成：它既包括(为皇室成员享乐而建造的)大型花园，也包括(学者、商人和卸任的政府官员为摆脱嘈杂的外部世界而建造的)私家花园。

　　英文的结构搭成：It includes not only the large gardens _________ but also the private gardens __________.

　　第一个空格翻译：为皇室成员享乐而建造的

　　“享乐”很多同学一下子想不出翻译方法，其实享乐大不了就用have fun。

　　于是：the large gardens which are built for royal family to have fun

　　第二个空格翻译：学者、商人和卸任的政府官员为摆脱嘈杂的外部世界而建造的

　　“摆脱嘈杂的外部世界”也使得很多同学为难，其实大不了就用get rid of the noise from the outside world。

　　the private gardens which are built for scholars, merchants and retired government workers to get rid of the noise from the outside world.

　　完整版本即：

　　It includes not only the large gardens which are built for royal family to have fun, but also the private gardens which are built for scholars, merchants and retired government workers to get rid of the noise from the outside world.

　　当然好的版本如：

　　It includes not only the large gardens as an entertainment venue for royal family, but also the private gardens built as secluded retreats for scholars, merchants and retired government workers.

　　大家只要在规定时间内尽自己最大的努力把整篇文章的内容基本都翻译出来，最终一定能得到一个不错的分数，如果水平较好，斟字酌句，定能斩获高分。
