　　For thousands of years, people have acceptedchallenges in different fields. There are not onlyphysical challenges, but also social andintellectual(聪明的) challenges. Some peoplerisk(冒…险) their lives in playing sports to see howwell they can do. Others try to make and invent(发明) something to make life easier. They all enjoychallenges.

　　Why do people enjoy these challenges? Thereare probably many reasons. One is curiosity. Theother is the personal feeling of success, ofachievement, and nowadays, for some people, it is a business.

　　Today, we still have many challengers before us. Medical science faces the challenges ofconquering many diseases which still attack human beings. Engineers and planners must buildnew cities, design and produce new kinds of transportation. Scientists must develop newforms of energy. In short, we live in an age of challenges.
