　　Directions: For this part，you are allowed 30 minutes to write a news report to your local newspaper on a volunteer activity organized by your Student Union to help elderly people in the neighborhood. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.

　　A Visit to Elderly People

　　For the purpose of raising public awareness of caring about old people, our Student Union organized a visit to elderly people in our neighborhood this Saturday. Through this visit, we have learned the living condition of these aged citizens, and as volunteers, we have contributed our efforts to help them.

　　Initially, preparing some basic life necessities for them was on the top of the list.We had held a charity sale in our university to raise fund before the visit. Thanks to our schoolmates’ generosity, we were allowed to bring some nutritious food, clothes and some bedding to them. Additionally, since it was not so convenient for the elderly people to do some chores, we cooked for them and helped them with some cleaning work. A bit tired as we were, we felt happy when we saw the smiles on their faces. At the end of the day, we gave a performance and chatted with them, which cheered them up and brought them great fun.

　　It was definitely a meaningful activity. It is high time that our society attached great importance to caring the aged, especially aged people who live alone.
