　　茅盾是中国最 优秀的著名现代小说家之一。他最著名的作品是《子夜》 (Midnight)。茅盾还在上小学时就已经开始发展他的写作技巧。当他在杭州读中学时，广泛的阅读和严格的写作技能培训充满了他的生活。期间他读完了大量的古典小说。这些小说影响了他的写作风格和创作理念。茅盾于1913年进入北京大学提供的为期三年的基础学校，在那里他研究了中国和西方文学。
