　　Mongolian Sihu Music

　　The Mongolian Sihu is one of the most characteristic Mongolian musical instruments, mainly played by the ethnic Mongolians and Han people in northern China and also in Mongolia. Usually used as an accompaniment for shuochang (a form of storytelling), or performed solo or as part of an ensemble, the Mongolian Sihu is highly expressive and loaded with cultural significance. It is an outstanding feat of the Mongolians to create an independent system of techniques used when playing the Sihu, whose melodies are far-reaching and of primitive simplicity. The Mongolian Sihu was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006.
