　　On June 18th 2019, we took part in a volunteer activity organized by our Student Union, which gathered about 30 students to pay a visit to elderly people in the neighborhood. Majority of the elderly were over 70 years old and have no child around them.

　　The details of this activity can be listed as follow. After arriving at the neighborhood in the morning, the students were divided into 5 groups and each group got its assignments, such as doing some laundry for the elderly and chatting with them. While accompanying them, our students showed great care and respect to the elderly just as they are close family. At noon, we made dumplings for the elderly and had lunch together like a warm and loving family. In the end, what made us deeply moved was that the elderly prepared some gifts for us.

　　All in all, this kind of volunteer activity plays a crucial role in our college life and current society. Only in this way, can we youngsters shoulder our own social responsibility and our society be more harmonious in the future.

　　Last Sunday, the 9th of June, a visit to a local Hope elementary school was organized by our Student Union. The school is located in the remote area of the town. Since its establishment in 2016, it has drawn great attention from the public.

　　The main purpose of this visit is to bring some basic supplies to the students, and to learn about their current situations as well as any problems they have encountered in study. In the morning, we took the bus and arrived at the Hope elementary school at around 9 o’clock. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the teachers and students. There, some of our members organized interesting games and students were more than happy to participate in those activities. While others stayed together with some quite students, asking about their life and their study. Having played and talked, every student had a good time.

　　Such voluntary work, in my opinion, is of great significance to us university students to realize the importance of taking care of those who are in need.

　　Yesterday, the 14th of June, our Student Union organized a voluntary activity to visit a local farm. The family-owned farm is famous for producing dairy products in the local area. Various kinds of animals are fed and plants are grown on the farm.

　　Since summer was coming, there were more and more tourists coming to the farm to entertain. The working staff in the farm complained about the increased amount of work. Therefore, we planned to visit the farm aiming to help them out with the busy work. On the farm, some of our members fed the cows, pigs, goats and rabbits while some helped the staff to clean the field, and some watered the garden. After a whole day’s hard work, everything on the farm was settled. And the workers thanked us a million for helping them with the work.

　　To sum up, such activity gives us a good opportunity to practice and experience a farmer’s life. Only in this way, can we young people’s practical ability be greatly promoted.
